Firmware 4.24.4: Smarter Panopto workflows and improved recording reliability

April 27, 2026

Available now, Firmware 4.24.4 for the Pearl family of encoders, this release focuses on improving reliability and reducing manual effort for teams using Panopto, along with key fixes and workflow enhancements across CMS integrations.

Smarter Panopto workflows

Live audio monitoring from Panopto

You can now monitor live audio directly from the Panopto Admin interface. This gives operators immediate visibility into audio capture during lectures, making it easier to catch and resolve issues before they impact the final recording.

One-click session re-upload

Re-upload all recordings for a session directly from the Pearl web interface with a single click. This removes the need to manually locate and upload individual files when restoring content in Panopto.

Improved synchronization and metadata accuracy

Better multi-channel recording alignment

Recordings across Pearl channels are now more accurately synchronized during uploads to Panopto, helping ensure consistency across all captured sources.

Correct Opencast event classification

Events that are both streamed and recorded are now properly labeled as Live + VOD. Previously, these events could appear as VOD only, creating confusion in downstream workflows.

Bug fixes and stability improvements

This release also includes important fixes to improve overall system stability:

  • Resolved an issue that could cause video and device errors when using Panopto templates on Pearl
  • Fixed a problem where migrating Kaltura schedules between Pearl systems could result in missing scheduled events

Firmware 4.24.2 is available as a free update for all Pearl Nexus, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nano, and Pearl-2 systems. To install, download to your device with a free Epiphan Edge™ account which gives you cloud control of your devices, or update with the local web UI on your device.
