Pearl Nano is a versatile and easy to use, single channel video recording and streaming hardware encoder that’s great for lecture capture, corporate communications, and remote video contribution applications using live SRT feeds. Simultaneously capture up to two audiovisual sources and arrange them in a custom layout with transparent images and backgrounds. Pearl Nano supports 3G SDI and 1920×1080 @60fps HDMI™ video sources, as well as video from SRT and RTSP networked sources. The option to upgrade to 12G SDI and 4K HDMI is coming soon.

Physical features that make Pearl Nano unique includes a control key interface to navigate the front screen menus rather than a touch screen. Pearl Nano also has an HDMI video pass-through port on the rear panel, which sends the HDMI IN signal out with zero latency.

Other differences between the single-channel Pearl Nano and our Pearl-2 and Pearl Mini all-in-one video production systems include the switching capability and multiple channel support. With the all-in-one systems, you can live switch multiple custom layouts. You can also configure multiple channels to have different encoding settings, which allows you to record and stream at different resolutions and frame rates. When Pearl Nano streams to multiple destinations, the same video encoding settings that are set for the channel are used for each destination.

Pearl Mini supports up to two simultaneous 1920x1080p program channels and is equipped with two HDMI inputs and one 3G SDI input. Pearl-2 supports up to six 1080p program channels and is equipped with four HDMI inputs, two 12G SDI inputs, and two USB input ports plus support for 4K video with the 4K feature plug in. Yes, Pearl Nano is a video encoder and also so much more than that! You can use Pearl Nano as an SRT encoder/decoder for SRT contribution, lecture capture applications with full Kaltura and Panopto integration, and more!

For confidence monitoring and easy recording and live streaming control, you can use front screen and control key interface on Pearl Nano’s front panel. You can also use Epiphan Cloud to control streaming and recording from just about anywhere there’s Internet access. All you need is a free Epiphan Cloud account to get started.

With the local console feature, you can access Pearl Nano’s Admin panel on the fly without needing an admin laptop. Simply connect a USB mouse or USB keyboard and an HDMI monitor directly to the ports on Pearl Nano. A built-in virtual keyboard is provided and touch-screen monitors are supported.

Pearl Nano is ready to use right out of the box! Plug a video source into the back of Pearl Nano and you can capture, stream and record right away using the automatic channel detection feature! For additional configuration, use the web-based Admin panel interface on the same local network as your Pearl Nano. You can also remotely login to your device with full administrative control from just about anywhere there’s Internet access when you purchase an Epiphan Cloud Pro plan.

The control key interface on Pearl Nano’s front panel lets you start/stop recording and streaming. And the front screen menu system lets you configure basic network settings, select a video source for the video output port and more.

Advanced users can use Pearl’s HTTP or RS-232 APIs to integrate with larger systems.

Not for the initial release, but we’re working on adding that in a firmware update. You can connect a USB audio (UAC) device to the USB 3.0 port on the rear panel.

Pearl Nano can capture up to two Full HD 1080p sources. You can use cameras connected to Pearl Nano’s HDMI IN and 3G-SDI port, or make one of your video inputs an SRT or RSTP networked source. Upgradable 12G SDI or 4K HDMI is coming soon.

Pearl Nano requires an SD card to store video recordings that you make using Pearl Nano. We recommend that you install an SD card that is at least 64 GB (class 10) up to a maximum 512 GB U3 SD card.

The SD card is EXT4 formatted and cannot be used to transfer recorded files to standard Windows machines. There are easier ways to transfer recordings off of Pearl Nano, like downloading recordings over the network using the Admin Panel. You can even configure recordings to be automatically transferred to a locally connected USB 3.0 drive or network storage device using SCP, FTP, SFTP, RSYNC or CIFS when Automatic File Upload (AFU) is configured.

Pearl Nano supports installation of a SATA M.2 2280 SSD, which can be used instead of the SD card for recordings. When you install an SSD, Pearl Nano no longer detects the SD card slot.

Yes. There’s an HDMI OUT port on the rear panel of Pearl Nano that can be used to display the channel or any video source on a local monitor or projector. The channel’s embedded audio is also sent through the video output port. You can even turn the video output into a large AV monitor by adding an audio VU meter to the displayed output.

You can configure the video output port on Pearl Nano for many different output resolutions and aspect ratios. You can even configure the video signal to be displayed reversed on the output port using the mirrored feature.

Pearl Nano also has an HDMI pass-through port that sends the HDMI IN signal out with zero-latency.

Yes. Pearl Nano supports connection of a single USB status light that indicates when recording or streaming is in progress. Select models of USB status lights from BusyLight and Delcom Products are supported:

• Kuando BusyLight models: UC Alpha and UC Omega
• Delcom Products USB HID single color and multi-color signal indicators

Yes! Pearl Nano has a custom layout editor that lets you build the channel layout to look exactly the way you want.

Combine video capture from your sources with images used for backgrounds, logos and overlays (transparent PNG is supported). Add text or time stamp overlays as well add metadata to the file to tag it with your company name.
