Firmware 4.24.2: Scheduled webcasts on Opencast, NDI|HX improvements, audio codec validation, and more

August 18, 2025

Firmware 4.24.2 is available now as a free update for Pearl Nano, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nexus, and Pearl-2. This update includes improvements, bug fixes, and an upgrade to the OpenCast integration.

New features

Opencast scheduled live webcast support

Epiphan Pearl capture agents now support scheduled live webcasts via Opencast. With this enhancement, your Pearl system can be configured to automatically start streaming to one or more predefined destinations.

NDI|HX interoperability enhancements

Resolved compatibility issues affecting NDI|HX interoperability between Pearl devices and certain NDI|HX cameras, such as the Sony SRG-A40.

This release also removes support for NDI|HX1.

Improved RTMP stability for Pearl Nano

Introduced a new configuration option on Pearl Nano to minimize high bitrate variability. This helps prevent potential stream disconnections with certain RTMP endpoints.

Accurate MTU settings on Pearl Nano

Fixed an issue where the MTU value set through the Pearl Nano web interface was not being applied. This update ensures your network configurations are now correctly honored.

Updated Built-in CA Certificates

This update includes refreshed digital certificates used to secure communication between Pearl systems and external services.

Dual Ethernet interface discovery

NDI sources can now be discovered over USB-to-Ethernet adapters connected to Pearl devices, providing greater flexibility in network configurations.

Audio codec validation

We’ve added validation for audio codec settings in the web interface to help prevent configuration errors and improve user experience.

Fan speed settings for Pearl-2

Updated the fan control interface by removing a misleading warning message and simplifying the available settings to:

  • Auto
  • Maximum

Bug Fixes:

Layout editor fix

Fixed an issue that previously prevented the reordering of elements in Pearl’s layout editor.

Multicast RTSP ingest fix

Resolved an issue where ingesting two multicast RTSP streams from Q-SYS cameras could cause one of the streams to be duplicated.

API documentation

Addressed multiple issues in the self-documented REST API guide for improved accuracy and usability.
