When the University of Toronto was choosing a product to capture screens for their open-source ePresence video conferencing and web broadcasting system, it’s no surprise that they chose Epiphan Systems’ VGA2USB.
In version 4.0 of ePresence, the creators of this open-source product have added support for “automated mode” through VGA2USB, which detects slide changes automatically. ePresence works by simultaneously recording video, slides, and audio from a presentation or meeting and broadcasting them live on the Internet or archiving for later viewing. What separates ePresence from other training and presentation webcasting packages is the ability to easily skip to a certain part within a presentation.
Epiphan Systems’ VGA2USB device is used to capture slides from a projector in real-time, and the ePresence software identifies and partitions the presentation according to each slide for easy browsing.
