The 2015 EDUCAUSE Annual Conference has come and gone, but the experience is still fresh in our minds at Epiphan Video.
Here are a few more highlights we experienced while connecting with fellow higher education AV professionals.
- Lecture capture trends identified by the University of Massachusetts Lowell
A study presented by UMass Lowell pointed at these future trends in lecture capture:
- System-wide HD capture
- Cloud storage
- 15% increase in overall lecture capture usage for the higher education industry
We noticed that many institutions are catching on: lecture capture is increasingly important in schools!
- Innovation in PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera technology
We saw some very cool and innovative PTZ camera technologies at EDUCAUSE! A startup out of Florida called Dycap presented their prototype of an auto-tracking PTZ camera solution that tracks the presenter based on facial recognition technology. I look forward to seeing how this startup and technology evolves and how our clients will implement PTZ tracking technology along with our streaming and recording products.
- Potential LMS partners for Epiphan!
We connected with LMS providers Canvas and D2L to explore their respective learning management platforms. We look forward to seeing educational institutions combine these software systems with our lecture capture technology.
- More potential partner opportunities! This time with video platform distributors
We had a great time discussing integration with Kaltura’s video platform as well as Zeticon’s MediaHaven, a video platform & archiving provider out of Belgium, who happened to be conveniently stationed across from our booth!
Thanks again to everyone we chatted with! Looking forward to next year!
