Share Technical Demos Online Using Epiphan VGA2USB

Nicolas de Loof helps to organize a Java User Group (JUG), BreizhJug, whose members meet monthly for technical conferences. The group publishes the sessions online for broader and archival access by its members. But, Nicolas notes that using a camcorder to capture both the speaker and the presentation slides resulted in virtually illegible presentation slides in the recorded product.

The organization solved the problem with the Epiphan VGA2USB, which is now used to capture the speaker's slides and online demonstrations and broadcast them in very high quality. "We use the parleys.com service to publish the sessions on the Internet with the speaker, slides and demos all synchronized," Nicolas adds.

Previously, the JUG had tried on-computer screen capture software, to grab the presentation slides but found that there were too many operating system restrictions and too much performance degradation with that method.

After hearing excellent feedback from a JUG in Belgium about the Epiphan VGA grabber, Nicolas investigated the frame grabber for himself. He says, "With VGA2USB we are able to broadcast and record presentations with no impact on the speaker's computer, no operating system requirements and no dedicated software to install."

The device's good video quality and ease of purchase ultimately sealed the deal for BreizhJug.
