1. What is the difference between VGA Recorder Standard and VGA Recorder Lite?
VGA Recorder Lite, besides being a lower-priced portable version of the VGA Recorder Standard broadcast solution, has several fundamental differences between itself and the VGA Recorder Standard. Firstly, VGA Recorder Lite hasĀ lower maximum resolution support when compared to the VGA Recorder Standard. Finally, the VGA Recorder Lite does not have support for external storage media such as CD/DVD.
2. Does VGA Recorder Lite work with the Gigabit Ethernet interface only?
The currently shipping VGA Recorder Lite performs on-board compression such that a 100 Mbps network connection should provide enough capacity for effective transmission of video content. Previous versions of VGA Recorder Lite performance recommended a GigE network connection.
3. How many frames per second can VGA Recorder Lite capture?
The capture rate of the VGA Recorder depends on how much change happens from frame to frame. Generally, however, the capture rate is roughly 30 frames per second. Please refer to the specifications for maximum capture rates.
4. Does VGA Recorder Lite reduce the resolution of the images it captures?
No. VGA Recorder Lite captures and transfers every pixel of the original VGA frame in 24-bits-per-pixel, 8:8:8 format. In this respect, VGA Recorder Lite provides diagnostic-quality images - superior to other solutions such as analog video conversion and transfer.
5. Can VGA Recorder Lite function over a Local Area Network (LAN) or does it need a constant connection to the Internet?
VGA Recorder Lite can function as a stand-alone device and does not need to be connected to a LAN or the Internet. However, if connected to a LAN or the Internet, the VGA Recorder Lite can automatically archive the recordings it makes to an FTP server. As well, a connection to a LAN or the Internet allows the user to remotely manage and access the recordings that VGA Recorder Lite makes.
6. The video mode that I am using is not listed in the list of supported modes for VGA Recorder Lite. Can VGA Recorder Lite capture it?
Please contact us. We are always looking for ways to improve our system and may be willing to add support for this mode.
7. How can I configure the VGA Recorder Lite?
Although the VGA Recorder Lite is a simple "plug-and-play" device, configuration can be performed through an intuitive web interface.
8. What compression does VGA Recorder Lite use?
VGA Recorder Lite is compatible with many different video compression formats and codecs. The compression to be used for recording can be set by the user. Please check specifications for more info.
