The DaVinci Development Kit is intended for expert users and organizations that want to build their own standalone device or internet appliance. It is a next generation frame grabber-based board that allows for the simultaneous capture of DVI or VGA and audio or composite video, and stereo audio.

The DaVinci Development Kit includes everything you need to begin programming for the device, including all associated hardware, a customized Linux-based build environment, and embedded Linux drivers that give you full control over its features.

Unlike other products in Epiphan's development product line, DaVinci is the only one that is able to maintain a constant DVI/VGA capture rate of roughly 30fps @ full HD (high definition) 1080p resolution while simultaneously capturing stereo audio, and compressing it using MPEG4.

The DaVinci Development Kit is ideal for those wishing to develop their own DVI or VGA, video and audio capture, recording, and broadcasting products that are compact, portable, and rugged. The DaVinci board can acquire DVI or VGA signals in resolutions up 1920×1200 and has a maximum capture rate of 20 frames per second, depending on resolution. DaVinci has an array of internal and external USB 2.0 ports for extending its capabilities and connecting external devices such as DVD writers and printers.
