Mediphan Launches Products for Remote Medical Guidance, Diagnosis, and Study
Products capture, send, share, and record the video display from virtually any medical device
19 June 2006 - Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - Epiphan Systems today announced that it has launched a sister company, Mediphan Inc. Mediphan was created in collaboration with physicians from Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan, with the goal of pursuing and expanding the application of Epiphan's core frame grabber technology in the field of medicine.
Mediphan was officially launched last Monday at the 2006 World Congress on Ultrasound in Emergency and Critical Care conference held in New York City, where the use of Mediphan products was highlighted in a plenary presentation as well as a poster session. These sessions highlighted the use of Mediphan's flagship products, DistanceDoc and MedRecorder, by physicians at Henry Ford. They are using Mediphan products as a key component of their work in remote medical guidance and diagnosis of patients as diverse as astronauts at the US Space Station and US Olympic Team athletes in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.
Based on Epiphan™s proprietary and widely deployed frame grabber technology, DistanceDoc provides a simple, web-based means to capture and remotely share diagnostic-quality medical images from nearly any medical device that has a display (VGA or DVI).
MedRecorder enables medical images to be archived to hard disk, DVD/DVD-ROM, computer or networked server for future retrieval and study. It is invaluable in the management of residents' studies, ultrasound portfolios, and to provide patients with recordings of their procedures.
Availability
Both products are now generally available by contacting Mediphan at www.mediphan.com, or in the United States at (908) 212-3185 and in Canada at (613) 599-6581.
